If We Build It, Will They Come? Give Us Your Feedback!

Welcome to a new blog for the First Annual Autumn Arts Painting Challenge. What began as a conversation about an art workshop between three artist friends has grown into one of the largest art contests on the Web. And why not? What better challenge than one that is free, global, and open to any artist who has the desire to create?

Sandy Askey-Adams, Jean Levert Hood, and Nancy Medina launched the first Art Challenge on October 1, 2009. The group attracted over over 1000 members who have submitted over 900 pieces of original artwork during the 30-day contest period.

This new blog is where we will announce the winners of the First Annual Autumn Arts Challenge and Competition. We will also tell you more about the prizes, gallery shows, and future Challenges so be sure to select the "Follow" button on the right side of this page to stay tuned.

Our deepest thanks to the hundreds of artists who created NEW works during the Challenge period for our first event. The nationally acclaimed judges, Gladys Roldan-de-Moras, Soon Y Warren, and Marsha Savage are reviewing those works right now and the top selections will be posted shortly. The judges and administrators have received no payment for their work on this event, and all prizes have been donated.

Please give us your feedback in the comments on this blog. We hope you have enjoyed this free contest as much as we have and will join us for the next challenge. Stay tuned for details to come!

  4. Some of the pictures I thought were prize worthy were also chosen by the judges, so I feel real happy about that. Some of the winners were a surprise to me but that's good too. All of the winners created some wonderful art; congratulations to them all. Thank you to the judges who had a job that I certainly would be reluctant to tackle. AND a big thank you to our three fairy godmothers who organized this competition - I call them fairy godmothers because, with the hugh amount of work that I'm sure getting this together was, they must have used magic.

  6. I'm sure it was a lot of work but it was a wonderful event! So worth your efforts! The art submitted is amazing in its variety; the talents awesome. Most of all, it was very gracious and generous of you to let it be free and allow complete beginners enter. That very much encourages participation in the arts which I believe is key to appreciation of all the arts.

  9. Congratulations to all who won and all who entered! This was a superb opportunity for any artist to throw their hat in the ring. Often, with our expanding, busy world, our friends don't always see our growth as artists. I sincerely appreciate the organizers, judges, and anyone else who might have been involved in the logistics of putting together this awesome contest. I look forward to the next "challenge"! THANK YOU for your efforts on our behalf!

  11. Congratulations on a very successful first competition. You pulled it off in good time too! The winners are all very nice. The only thing I would change is to have a separate catagory for acrylic paintings. They really aren't like oil and it would be nice to see one amongst the winners.

  20. Thank you for all your hard work in organizing this competition. You had some terrific entries.
I would like to suggest that the artists consistently let us know the size of the work and where they, the artists, are from.
